This series features some of the key cross-industry activities RSSB has undertaken as part of the Enabling Better Performance Research Challenge (PERFORM) programme, as well as other relevant industry initiatives and tools.

The event explored how the Red Aspect Approaches to Signals (RAATS) toolkit is helping operators to avoid the costs associated with SPADs; and two Data Sandbox+ projects , including Porterbrook’s IntelliDwellTime tool which investigated the factors that have most impact on dwell-related delay, and Zipabout’s real-time predictions which use machine learning models to deliver personalised information to passengers.

There were also short presentations on the benefits of a new data broker-approach; how data feeds can be more readily used to enable better network operations and improve customer experience; and the cost-benefit balance of open rail data and prioritising data for release.
